I bought the 128G drive to use as a page drive on my 2012 HP. I also am using it for Windows ReadyBoost. If you have an open SATA port on your motherboard and an open SATA plug on your power supply for the price, this is an affordable way to increase the speed of an older PC.
You do have to get into your bios settings and use the boot order tab to select the drive (it will be labeled as Lexar) to initialize it so windows can detect it.
After starting windows go to the This Computer panel and the drive will be shown in red. Click on it and you’ll be asked if you want to format the drive. Click yes. Once it’s formatted you’ll be asked if you want to use ReadyBoost on the drive. Select “use this drive”.
Do not dedicate the drive for ReadyBoost. To set it as your page drive, go to the control panel, select System, Advanced System Settings, Under Performance select, Advanced, select Change button at Virtual Memory, Click on the new drive, below click System Managed Size. Click on your old drive(s) and click No Page File. And that is it.
